Meet our partners

Siva Manoharan – Partner

Siva Manoharan has over 16 years of Semiconductor Engineering experience in both forward design and reverse engineering. He is a founding partner of IP Research Group. He started his career at Nortel, working on numerous semiconductor processes. He has worked extensively in the field of reverse engineering, supporting various companies in their intellectual property activities and competitive design analysis. At Semiconductor Insights Inc. he held various senior technical positions including Design Analysis Manager serving the Asia/Pacific region and Senior Design Analyst. He gained forward design experience working at Chrysalis-ITS as their Senior DFT Designer for numerous ASICs, and at Silicon Access Networks as a Verification Engineer working on hardware acceleration and emulation. Siva Manoharan holds a Bachelor of Engineer degree from Concordia University, Montreal.

Jason Ghie – Partner

Jason Ghie started his career with Semiconductor Insights where his technical and management posts included Manager of Patent Brokerage, Operations Manager of Engineering, IP Account Manager, Patent Engineer, and IP Analyst since joining the company in 1996. He has worked extensively with in-house corporate counsel teams of key technology companies, and external licensing agencies on strategies to effectively evaluate and monetize their IP assets. Jason left SI in the fall of 2008 to join the IP Research Group as a partner. Jason holds a Bachelor of Science & Engineering from Ottawa University and is a licensed member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario. In recognition of his strong technical and IP acumen, he has served as an advisor and expert witness in several intellectual property suits on behalf of Semiconductor Insights’ clients.

Don Scansen – Partner

After completing a PhD and a post-doctoral position at the National Research Council of Canada, Dr Scansen devoted nearly a dozen years to patent portfolio assessment, technology development, and industry road-mapping at the two leading reverse engineering houses - Chipworks and Semiconductor Insights where he held positions including Device Engineer, Senior Analyst, Engineering Manager and Product Manager. Don left Semiconductor Insights in 2009 to start an independent consulting firm, semiconDr Inc, and joined IPRG as a partner in January 2011. Dr Scansen is sought for both confidential assessment of the technical and market merit of inventions as well as his editorial opinions which appear frequently in various trade publications.
